Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, is a Sikh festival that celebrates the birth of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism. This auspicious day is observed on the full moon day in the month of Kartik, which usually falls in October or November of the Gregorian calendar.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on April 15, 1469, according to the Nanak Shahi calendar, which is the Sikh calendar. However, Guru Nanak Jayanti is typically celebrated according to the lunar calendar, and the date may vary.

Guru Nanak Jayanti is next on the list of the most beautiful festivals in Delhi. On this day, the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, is celebrated with immense reverence and devotion in Delhi. The festivities begin with early morning processions known as Nagar Kirtans, where devotees sing hymns and carry the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, on beautifully decorated floats. The procession makes its way through the streets of Delhi, spreading the message of peace, unity, and equality. Gurdwaras (Sikh temples) are adorned with lights and decorations, and special prayer Service and langar’s are organized, offering free food to all visitors, regardless of their caste, creed, or religion.
